Dear Scholars,
I'm so excited to be one of your teachers this year! I'll be working with Mr. Turner and Mr. Blaustein to make sure you are getting the most out of your Global History classes. Each one of you is unique. Every human brain is different. However, there's one thing we can all do, without exception. We can all do our best!
I'll be learning a lot about you, so here's a little about me. I just moved to New York from Washington, D.C. this summer. When I was younger, growing up in the DC area, I struggled in school. I had to figure out my own strategies for getting through my classes because I didn't get the kind of help I needed. I decided I wanted to become a teacher because I didn't want other kids to have the same experience.
There's a secret a lot of people don't know. A lot of people think that just because you don't understand something right away, it means you're never going to get it. Or maybe people have made you feel like you're moving too slow, or you're not interested in the "right" things. This is totally wrong! The secret is, people who need to take a different path to learning often come up with the best ideas later on. Be true to yourself! If you don't believe me, read about famous inventors, athletes, actors, or anyone you admire. Chances are, they made mistakes, felt frustrated, and didn't fit in when they were young.
Let's do our best and get the most out of this year!
Lots of love,
Ms. Wells, September 2015
